Every figure on Justice Atlas comes from the LSC Basic Field Grant Allocation (FY2025), published by the Legal Services Corporation. Source id src:lsc:basic-field-grant-allocation:2026.

Grain & aggregation

The source has one row per grantee service-area. We aggregate by state (first two characters of the service area code) to produce per-state provider counts, total allocations, poverty populations served, and service area type distributions. Provider counts are distinct grantee rows per state; a provider serving multiple service areas within a state appears once per service area in the roster.

What is not in the data

• This is not legal advice. Justice Atlas identifies which LSC-funded providers operate where; it does not advise on any legal matter.
• Eligibility is not determined here. LSC-funded providers generally serve people at or below 125% of the federal poverty level, but rules vary by provider and case type. Contact providers directly.
• This is not case-level data. We have no information about individual cases, outcomes, or representation rates.
• Poverty population figures are reported by grantees and may be null for some program types (e.g., some Native American and Agricultural Worker rows).
• Scope is the 56 states and territories present in this dataset. We state that scope literally and do not assert why a given state is or is not included.

What this is not

Justice Atlas is a reference directory. It informs and routes you to LSC-funded providers. It does not give legal advice, predict case outcomes, rank providers, recommend a "best provider", or facilitate intake. For help, use lsc.gov/find-legal-aid or lawhelp.org.

Current coverage: 133 LSC-funded providers with $518,737,067 in total federal legal-aid funding across 56 states. Data exported June 21, 2026.
